Big Brothers Big Sisters of Oklahoma forms new partnership with Bargain Thrift Store
In March, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Oklahoma (BBBSOK) announced a new partnership with Bargain Thrift Store. For years, Bargain Thrift Store has partnered with non-profit organizations like Prevent Blindness and the Oklahoma Foundation for the Disabled, and now BBBSOK.
The store agreed to solicit their existing list of donors for items to benefit BBBSOK, and from the sale of those items, the store is donating 7% to the agency. BBBSOK has also encouraged its supporters to call Bargain Thrift Store to arrange to have their used clothing or home items picked up. Seven percent of the sale of those items will also be donated to BBBSOK. In order to make arrangements for anyone to donate clothing or other household items, the Bargain Thrift Store numbers are (918) 445-9000 in Tulsa and (405) 948-1092 in Oklahoma City.
The generosity of Bargain Thrift Store will help BBBSOK to fulfill its goal of making more matches possible between Bigs and Littles. The agency's primary mission is always to enable children to reach their potential through professionally supported one-to-one relationships. BBBSOK thrives with on the commitment of its volunteers, and also on the investment of individual and corporate donors.
The statewide mentoring agency is recognized as the state's premiere youth mentoring organization for facilitating one-to-one mentoring friendships between children and caring volunteers through community based and site based programs. Independent research has proven that children with a Big Brother or Big Sister are less likely to use drugs, skip school or be involved in acts of violence, and have better relationships with family and friends.
