Bowl For Kids' Sake ready for new season

Ready for a new season

Every year, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Oklahoma (BBBSOK) brings people together to help raise enough funds to support the making and maintaining of matches between Bigs and Littles.  From February to April, Bowl for Kids’ Sake (BFKS) touches over 30,000 people in Oklahoma with the BBBS message making it Oklahoma’s #1 Campaign for Kids!

Director of Resource Development Renee Meek reports that the net goal for all sites is $757,500.  To help reach this goal, over 80 corporate sponsors across the state have already contributed to Bowl for Kids’ Sake.  Our corporate sponsors actually underwrite the cost of the event so that every dollar raised by bowl teams goes directly to mentoring children.

Companies, organizations, and individuals put together teams of five, raise pledges, and then celebrate with a bowling party in their local city.  When bowlers reach their pledge goal, they receive a 2009 BFKS t-shirt.  You really don’t have to be a good bowler to participate because “It’s not about bowling, it’s about kids.”

Participating companies bring their own energy and excitement to the event by offering internal incentives, jeans days, and friendly competition among department employees.

Although the reward of helping children in Oklahoma is fulfilling enough for participants, BFKS sites are also offering prizes ranging from televisions, iPods, and Visa gift cards to top fundraising teams and individuals.

There’s still time to get involved.  To find out how you can be a part of BFKS, contact Renee Meek at 576-6400 and visit online at www.bbbsok.org/bowl_for_kidssake/.
