On May 14th, Big Brothers Big Sisters recognized ONEOK as the 2009 recipient of The Ward and Patty Seibert Mentoring Award. In a small reception at Burroughs Elementary School, Sharon Brolick, Tulsa Area Director of Big Brothers Big Sisters, presented Terri Pirtle, Big Sister and ONEOK Community Investments Coordinator with the award. Jon and Linda Kantor, underwriters of the award, along with Ward and Patty Seibert were also present.

'We are grateful that ONEOK is partnering with us to make a difference in the lives of children in Tulsa.' said Sharon Brolick, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Oklahoma- Tulsa Area Director. 'Partnerships with corporate citizens, schools, communities and of course, families, are necessary to support structured long-term mentoring so that we can continue to improve the odds for some of Tulsa's most vulnerable children.'

The Ward and Patty Seibert Mentoring Award is awarded each year to a Big Brothers Big Sisters of Oklahoma partner organization who has provided outstanding support of the School-Based program by encouraging its members or employees to become Big Brother or Big Sister volunteers in a school-based setting.

'Selecting this year's honoree was an easy choice,' said Brolick. 'ONEOK is our single largest corporate volunteer partner. 15 employees volunteer at Burroughs Elementary school, meeting with their Little for about an hour each week. Another 10 employees have chosen to continue meeting with their Littles who are now in middle school. Their commitment to creating a lasting friendship drastically increases a child's odds for success. We couldn't ask for a better partner and are thrilled to present ONEOK with this honor.'
